House of Horrors is a haunted house card game. Players play both terrifying monsters and foolhardy explorers in a bid to see who can stay in the house the longest!

The game mechanics are similar to Avalon Hill's Atlantic Storm -- an excellent card game that simulates WWII naval combat. It just so happens that the basic system works great for a haunted house game. A wide variety of creatures, items, spooky rooms, and weird events are yours to play. Kudos to Ben Knight for designing the original system, a fantastic game in its own right, and helping me tweak and balance this spooky game.

Best yet, the game's entirely free! You can download it in several .pdf files below. Just print out the cards (preferably on heavier stock -- see the notes), and you're all set. Bring your own dice.

Like any House of Horrors, the game has some caveats. First it really works best with 4+ players. It CAN be played with 3 or less players, but it's not nearly as fun. Secondly, table-talk! Plead with your friends not to play monsters! Threaten them if they play an explorer! Lie to them so they play a weak card and your vampire can devour them! The game works ten times better when you encourage that kind of play...
